One of the main mantras of Consurf is its ability to provide better tools and insights when you connect with people for potential roommates or carpools in furry conventions.

We went from "Stranger Danger" from the early 2000's to literally closing deals with strangers on the internet.

But once we start working towards trust, sleeping on the same room requires an extra layer of vetting.

The Normies

One of the things aims with Consurf is to provide a place where we all can vet the people who we interact with.

To participate on Consurf, you must have a Bluesky account. If you are banned on Bluesky, you can't login on Consurf anymore. So that weed out the bigger troublemakers.

Consurf also can injest a number of Moderation Lists from Bluesky, curated by the community, such as the Commision Artist's Bots - they won't be able to Log In on Consurf, even though they can roam free on Bluesky.

On top of that, Consurf can also ban specific accounts brought to attention.

You can vet too!

One of the great things about Consurf is the more complete people profiles are, more you can lean on your decision to engage further with them.

Account ages on Consurf profiles will give a good idea how long people are around. Both boxes requires the owner of the profile to be authenticated on Bluesky or FurAffinity to validate ownership, so at least you know this person owns the profile validated - it's not a simple link.

Follow the trail on Bluesky

The nature of Bluesky allows people to change their "@" username. Almost always, they are legit changes. But be wary if the changes are too many, and wildly different handlers.

Consurf make it easy to follow the history:

Above we have , a legit user. You can follow her history of changes. A scammer will have a lot of non-furry handles, frequent changes, and often not consistent with their fandom presence - Kiva is clear :)

We are still strangers on the internet

Consurf put up extra tools to help you decide to engage or not. Build a community of trust, and we will always continue to improve upon it.

We also put together a guide with general tips regarding safety and security at cons: https://consurf.net/docs/security

All in all, let's keep the fandom weird, but safe for everyone!
